Pathway of Hope

Pathway of Hope is The Salvation Army’s strategic approach to providing targeted services to families in crisis that desire to break the cycle to enable a path out of intergenerational poverty. The Salvation Army’s history of compassionate serving is enhanced by Pathway of Hope’s holistic case management focus on resolving critical barriers to stability to increase our impact dramatically by:

     • Empowering families in crisis with targeted services to change their life trajectories;

     • Optimizing The Salvation Army’s resources to align with goals that families desire to attain;

     • Catalyzing community collaborations to maximize partnerships and local resources families need;

     • Mobilizing families to stability and self-sufficiency, and tracking their progress along the way;

     • Leveraging evidence-based practices including motivational interviewing for effective strengths‐based case management.

THE ROLE OF PASTORAL CARE: Pastoral Care is an integral component of Pathway of Hope as families mobilize from crisis to stability. Families receive spiritual care and ministry; opportunities to worship; and are connected to resources for further spiritual development. Pastoral care is offered to Pathway of Hope families voluntarily. Findings indicate that Pathway of Hope families receiving pastoral care are more likely to increase their hope, goal attainment, and self-sufficiency compared to families that decline pastoral care services.
